Logo Roughs
For the top illustrated logo I wanted to combine the "w" and "m" together and make a organic flowing shape. Also I wanted to make the "w" look look a kid raise his hand for joy, and the middle of the "w" is the kids head. This is just a starting point for my logo.

Two Personas (Wavemaker Program)
Hi I’m Billy,
I’m twelve years old and I have
been going to Eastern middle school since the sixth grade. I love to play
basketball and soccer. I also enjoy playing videogames, watching television,
and eating my boogers. One time my friend Jonathan jumped off a swing from very
high and broke his leg when he landed; he got in big trouble. I get bored
pretty easily because I’m an annoying twelve-year-old boy with attention
disorder, or so my step-dad tells me all the time. School can be cool, if we
had more playtime, but most of the time I just sit in class and daydream about
pizza and Pokémon.
One day we
had a visitor in class that talked to us about water and stuff. I think her
name is Erin, but she told us how there are kids just like me in other
countries such as Uganda that have to walk miles to get fresh water every day.
I also learned that there is only a very small amount of clean water on our
planet and we need to be aware of how to prevent all the clean water from
disappearing. I didn’t realize how important water is and it makes me feel bad
that other kids like me have to walk forever to get it clean water. I didn’t
think I could do anything to help, but Erin told me I could help make a
difference.
Erin said
she is part of the Wavemaker Program, and they travel to different schools
across the country speaking with kids. It would be kind of cool if we got to do
games or activities that were fun, but still relate to learning about water and
stuff. Also I love getting free stuff, so maybe a sticker or something so I will
always remember the speech.
Hello my name is Mrs. Johnson,
I have been
teaching history at Segway Elementary School for eleven years now. I enjoy
teaching, learning, reading, and scrapbooking. I have a wonderful husband whom
I’ve been married to for eight years now. I love my little Shih Tzu Tinkerbell,
she is my world. I consider myself I nice easygoing person with a positive
attitude towards life. I do volunteer work at a local organization called
Segway dog resue, where we take in abandon dogs, I just can’t stand seeing dogs
suffer.
This past
Tuesday a young Lady by the name of Erin Huber came to the school to speak in
my class about the water issues going on around the world. I knew we had a
shortage of water on our planet, but I had no idea so many children in
third-world countries had to walk for hours to drink fresh water. I figured the
children would learn from the lecture, but I actually learned a lot of
important information about water and its importance to us.
Erin’s
program, the Wavemaker Program, was designed to teach children and teens around
the country about water issues. I would love to be a part of her program and
maybe help her teach children at Segway school, so the rest of the children
hear can listen the same things that my class learned.

—
My
Interest: I am interested in Drink Local. Drink Tap, because I think the
water crisis we have on our planet is becoming worse each day. I found it
amazing how they fundraised enough money to build water pumps in Africa, for
those who can’t access fresh water like we can. They also do beach cleanups and
events around the United States to bring awareness to the global water crisis,
which I think is very important.
—
Assessment:
This organization will be a great opportunity for me because they are very
easy to contact and hold communication with. We already discussed a program
they are having that I can do the brand identity for, which I can put in my
portfolio. Also they have a large amount of information for me to use for my
project.
2. NeXT Stop Project (2nd Choice)
—
Location:
New York City, New York

—
My
Interest: I am interested in NeXT Stop Project, because I think it’s a
unique and good idea to collect bus passes for the less fortunate. I am also
interested because it is a new organization (February 2013), and they would
most likely use my design work. I have also always liked New York City as well
even though I have only been there once.
—
Assessment:
This organization will be a great opportunity for me because they have a
high interest in me designing their identity. Also Chai seemed pretty easy to
keep in contact with. We already talked on the phone and Chai is just a few
years older then me, so we can relate to college projects.
3. I Vote
—
Location:
Los Angeles, California
— Web Address: http://www.ivotenation.com
—
Primary
Purpose: Their primary goal is to encourage
young adults to vote, and to bring awareness about certain political issues
going on in our country.

o
Contact Name:
Katie Keating
—
My
Interest: I am interested in I vote, because I am not a very big political
person, so I figured doing their organization would help me learn more about
political issues going on in our country. Honestly another reason would be that
I have already thought of a few ideas for the logo. Overall they seem easy to
work with.
—
Assessment:
This organization will be a great opportunity for me because they are a
large organization, and might possibly use my design. They are also easy to get
in contact with, which is key for this project. Also just to learn a lot about
a subject I’m not to
aware
about.
